Privacy Policy
Last updated: September 3, 2026
PrayerPass ("PrayerPass," "we," "us," or "our") is an independently operated website, not a company or organization. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect through prayerpass.org (the "Site"), how we use it, and the choices you have.
Information We Collect
We collect information you give us directly:
- Account information — your name, email address, and a securely hashed password when you create an account. We never store your password in plain text.
- Prayer requests, praise reports, and salvation stories — the content you submit, which may be posted publicly (optionally anonymously) once approved by our staff.
- Support messages — your name, email, and message when you contact Support.
- Creator and Writer applications — your name, email, social media handles or profile links, a short bio, and any file you upload (such as a writing sample).
We also automatically collect a limited amount of technical information:
- IP address — used only to prevent spam by limiting how often the same visitor can submit a request (about once every 10 minutes). We don't use it to track you across the web.
- Session cookie — a single essential cookie that keeps you logged in. It doesn't track you across other websites, and we don't use advertising or analytics cookies.
We do not currently use Google Analytics, advertising pixels, or any other third-party tracking or analytics tools on the Site.
How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Operate your account and let you log in;
- Review and moderate submitted content before it appears publicly;
- Reply to you by email — for example, responding to a support message, following up on a salvation story if you asked to be contacted, or checking in on a prayer request that's been active for a while;
- Review Creator and Writer applications and, if approved, feature your profile (name, bio, photo, and links to your content) on the Creators/Writers page — for Creators, we link to your videos and posts on TikTok, Instagram, or YouTube rather than hosting or storing them ourselves; for Writers, we host the text of stories you write for the Site;
- Prevent spam and abuse of the submission forms; and
- Keep the Site secure and working correctly.
Emails we send come from our own connected mailbox — we don't use a third-party marketing or newsletter service.
What We Don't Do
We don't sell your information. We don't share it with advertisers or data brokers. We don't use it for anything beyond running PrayerPass as described in this policy. The only outside party involved is our web host, which stores the Site's files and database as part of providing hosting service to us.
How Long We Keep Information
Your account and submitted content are kept as long as your account exists. Approved praise reports are automatically removed from the public Praise Wall after 7 days, but remain visible to you on your own My Request page. Prayer requests that have had no update in 2 weeks are reviewed by staff, who may reach out to check on them or remove them, but they aren't deleted automatically.
You can delete your own prayer requests, praise reports, and salvation stories at any time from the My Request page.
Your Choices
You can submit a prayer request, praise report, or salvation story anonymously — your name won't be shown publicly.
To request deletion of your account and associated personal information, email privacy@prayerpass.org from the address on your account. We don't currently have an automatic self-service delete button, so these requests are handled manually by our staff, typically within a few days.
Children's Privacy
PrayerPass is not intended for children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 13. Our Creator and Writer programs are limited to applicants 18 or older. If you believe a child under 13 has created an account or submitted information to us, please contact privacy@prayerpass.org so we can remove it.
Security
The Site is served over HTTPS, passwords are stored using one-way hashing (never in plain text), and staff-only areas require a login with a role permission check on every request. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect your information.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we'll update the "Last updated" date above.
